We are Better Together

River City Advocacy stands in the belief that people need communities of support nearly as much as standard necessities of life. Not only do we have a natural and biological desire for closeness and understanding, but we should all acknowledge that life is hard and doing it alone is an unrealistic goal. When we go through “big T” and “little t” traumas, having someone to speak to can help us overcome the overwhelming feelings.

We are happy to offer a variety of community events and support groups. Support groups are available Monday through Thursday weekly. Family Groups are available in partnership with NAMI. Please see schedule for days and times below. Check our upcoming events for special monthly programming.

Support Groups

River City Advocacy Support groups are a no-cost way to foster community and invest in our emotional health. Join us for our weekly, bi-weekly and monthly support groups!

Monday

  • Men’s Support Group: 12 p.m.
  • Women’s Support Group: 1 p.m.
  • Family Support Group*: 5:30 p.m. (1st and 3rd Monday)

Tuesday

  • General Support Group: 1 p.m.

Wednesday

  • Life Skills* Class: 1 p.m.
  • LGBTQ Teen (ages 14-17) Support Group*: 6 p.m.
  • Veterans Group: 6:30 p.m., VFW 600 Peace Street, New Braunfels, TX

Thursday

  • General Support Group: 1 p.m.
  • Healthy Relationship with Food Group: 1 p.m.

ALL GROUPS ARE NO-COST
The Art Studio is open from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday

NAMI Family-to-Family

While many support services are aimed at helping the individual who is suffering, often families and loved ones feel the impacts of their loved one’s circumstances. NAMI Family-to-Family is a free support group for families and significant others of people living with mental illness.

NAMI Family-to-Family is hosted at 5:30 p.m., on the first and third Mondays of each month.
