If you have questions about any of the documents, please call our office during normal business hours to speak with a team member.

1. Fill out and submit our online Counseling Application.

This link will open in a new browser tab. Make sure to double-check that your contact information is correct before submission.

2. A staff member will contact you within five to 10 business days

To review your information and your eligibility for financial support.

3. Once your application is accepted, you will receive an email with a link to complete the intake documents.

4. After all documents have been completed, the counseling staff is notified, and you will then be contacted to schedule your first appointment.

Please keep in mind that if all documents are not completed, our system will not notify a counselor to schedule your first appointment.

Counseling at River City Advocacy

Asking for help can be difficult, but everyone will need help in their lifetime. Counseling can be helpful if you are feeling depressed or anxious; if you are experiencing grief, trauma or abuse; or if you are simply struggling with everyday life.

Counseling can be a difficult process. However, it can also be a deeply rewarding and life-changing process. Here are a few quick facts to answer any top-of-mind questions.

What is counseling?

What types of therapy do you offer?
We offer individual, couples and family counseling by appointment.
Who can utilize your services?
Our counseling services are available to anyone over the age of 14, regardless of race, ethnicity, religious belief, sexual orientation or gender identity.
How do you determine costs and payments?
Fees for counseling are set based on income and family size, ensuring that working families and others in need in our community have the opportunity to afford the care they need. All payments are due at the time of service.
Are your therapists licensed?
All of our counselors and therapists are licensed by their respective state board of examiners and guided by a professional code of ethics for their profession. Some may be working as interns toward their full license and supervised by our fully licensed staff team.
What geographical areas does River City Advocacy service?
River City Advocacy’s counseling program serves New Braunfels, Comal County and the surrounding areas. Please contact River City Advocacy if you want to schedule an appointment with a counselor.
How is my private information stored?
All client records are kept individually by our counselors. To request that your information be shared with someone other than your counselor, you must contact your counselor to obtain a form that permits the disclosure of that specific information. River City Advocacy abides by all federal and state laws regarding the privacy of your protected health information and cannot release your information to anyone without your consent except under limited circumstances. You may request at any time a copy of these or any other policies listed on the counseling application. Any request for records must be submitted to your therapist directly.
